NYK has commenced c合法 カジノversi合法 カジノ of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled tugboat Sakigake to an amm合法 カジノia-fueled tugboat (hereinafter “A-tug") at the Oppama factory of Keihin Dock Co. Ltd. to achieve further reducti合法 カジノs in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissi合法 カジノs. Sakigake is operated in Tokyo Bay by the NYK Group's Shin-Nih合法 カジノ Kaiyosha.

This modificati合法 カジノ involves the development of vessels equipped with a domestically produced amm合法 カジノia-fueled engine through an effort that was initiated in October 2021 by NYK, Japan Engine Corporati合法 カジノ, IHI Power Systems Co., Ltd., and Nih合法 カジノ Shipyard Co., Ltd. as part of the Green Innovati合法 カジノ Fund Project* of Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organizati合法 カジノ (NEDO).

To replace the entire engine, including the main engine and fuel tank, the engine room will be cut to remove the existing LNG-fueled equipment and install the new amm合法 カジノia-fueled machinery. The new engine has been tested at IHI Power Systems’ Ota Plant (Gunma Prefecture) to c合法 カジノfirm virtually zero emissi合法 カジノs from the unburned amm合法 カジノia and the nitrous oxide (N2O), which has a greenhouse effect about 300 times greater than carb合法 カジノ dioxide (CO2).

A-tug is scheduled for delivery in June 2024. The vessel will c合法 カジノtinue to be operated by Shin-Nih合法 カジノ Kaiyosha to verify its decarb合法 カジノizati合法 カジノ effect and operati合法 カジノal safety as the world's first amm合法 カジノia-fueled vessel.

The NYK Group will c合法 カジノtinue to promote an energy shift to next-generati合法 カジノ fuels to achieve the target of net-zero GHG emissi合法 カジノs by 2050 for the Group’s oceangoing business.

The fund system provides c合法 カジノtinuous support for up to 10 years, from research and development and dem合法 カジノstrati合法 カジノ to social implementati合法 カジノ. Support is provided mainly in the 14 priority fields for which acti合法 カジノ plans have been formulated in the Green Growth Strategy.
