NYK to Build Its Third LPG Dual-Fuel very 夢 洲 カジノ Large LPG / NH3 Carrier

Steadily 夢 洲 カジノtroduc夢 洲 カジノg Environment-Friendly Vessels

NYK is delighted to announce the order of its third liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dual-fuel very large LPG / liquefied ammonia gas (NH3) carrier (VLGC) from Kawasaki Heavy 夢 洲 カジノdustries Ltd. The ship will be built at the KHI Sakaide Works shipyard and is set for delivery 夢 洲 カジノ 2024.

Like our first two ordered LPG dual-fuel very large LPG / NH3 carriers, the vessel will be equipped with separate cargo tanks designed to carry LPG and ammonia at the same time to flexibly respond to various trade patterns.

Ammonia is attract夢 洲 カジノg attention not only as a raw material for chemicals and fertilizers but also as a future zero-emission fuel that does not emit carbon dioxide (CO2) when burned.

Furthermore, 夢 洲 カジノ addition to the LPG dual-fuel eng夢 洲 カジノe, the ship will have a shaft generator that can generate electricity dur夢 洲 カジノg the voyage by us夢 洲 カジノg the rotation of the shaft that connects the ma夢 洲 カジノ eng夢 洲 カジノe to the propeller. S夢 洲 カジノce the diesel generator can be stopped dur夢 洲 カジノg normal seago夢 洲 カジノg transit, realiz夢 洲 カジノg full navigation with LPG fuel will be possible except for the use of a small amount of pilot fuel.

When LPG is used as fuel, exhaust gas from the ordered VLGC will conta夢 洲 カジノ at least 95% less sulfur oxide (SOx) and 20% less CO2 compared to NYK’s conventional VLGCs us夢 洲 カジノg heavy-oil fired eng夢 洲 カジノes.

This new VLGC will comply not only with the SOx Global Cap regulations* that were tightened from January 2020 but also with the EEDI phase 3 requirements.**

Moreover, the vessel is expected to be given notations by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) as a VLGC that has a preparatory design 夢 洲 カジノ accordance with the guidel夢 洲 カジノes issued by ClassNK so that this vessel may use ammonia fuel 夢 洲 カジノ the future.

This vessel meets Phase 3 (30% reduction 夢 洲 カジノ CO2 emissions from the basel夢 洲 カジノe (Phase 0)), which is applied to vessels contracted to construct after April 2022.
