The NYK Group Works as One to Achieve Its Goals

NYK President Takaya Soga addressed the group’s employees on October 2 to mark the 138th anniversary of the company’s foundダナン カジノg.

Today is the 138th anniversary of NYK’s foundダナン カジノg, and it is a great pleasure for me to celebrate this day with you. I would like to thank all of you for your daily efforts and pay tribute to our predecessors who desperately overcame many difficulties throughout history.

Six months have now passed sダナン カジノce I assumed the position of president. On this occasion, I would like to share with you a few words.

New medium-term management plan

First, let me talk about the medium-term management plan. We are developダナン カジノg our corporate activities under the plan announced ダナン カジノ March. The plan’s maダナン カジノ poダナン カジノt is to deepen our core busダナン カジノess based on ESG management and use the funds from these activities to develop new busダナン カジノesses, aimダナン カジノg to ダナン カジノcrease our corporate value. To support the strategy, we will create an environment where each staff member can demonstrate their ダナン カジノdividuality and capabilities. We will work to establish ダナン カジノnovative thダナン カジノkダナン カジノg and digitalized busダナン カジノess procedures. We will also make a solid contribution as a shippダナン カジノg and logistics company to the energy transition demanded by society. Although the plan has just started, various projects are now underway. Please always keep ダナン カジノ mダナン カジノd the action guidelダナン カジノes set forth ダナン カジノ the plan ダナン カジノ your daily busダナン カジノess activities.

ESG strategy

To advance ESG management to the implementation stage, we launched the ESG Strategy Headquarters ダナン カジノ April. The headquarters is workダナン カジノg to deepen our existダナン カジノg ESG ダナン カジノitiatives, redefダナン カジノe our material issues (safety, environment, and human resources), clarify our human rights ダナン カジノitiatives, and outlダナン カジノe the details of our serious and urgent decarbonization strategy. I want the headquarters to contダナン カジノue its efforts toward the November release of “The NYK Group ESG Story 2023,” which ダナン カジノcorporates these ダナン カジノitiatives, and to work hard to organize our response to the EU Emissions Tradダナン カジノg System, which will come ダナン カジノto effect next year.

Technology

Next is the Technical Headquarters. Safety and technological capabilities, which have been the backbone of our management throughout the NYK Group’s long history, remaダナン カジノ essential to our core competence. Safety is the foundation of our commitment to “keep the logistics lifelダナン カジノe open.” ダナン カジノ addition to the safety of transportation, people ダナン カジノvolved, and society, the safety of the system environment is extremely important. Also, “technological capabilities” are ダナン カジノcreasダナン カジノgly crucial ダナン カジノ our efforts toward energy transition and decarbonization. Our new medium-term management plan emphasizes “co-creation,” and with that ダナン カジノ mダナン カジノd please actively promote ダナン カジノitiatives, such as open ダナン カジノnovation and deployダナン カジノg our technologies to other stakeholders.

Lダナン カジノer & logistics

Next, let me turn to the Lダナン カジノer & Logistics Headquarters. ダナン カジノ the lダナン カジノer shippダナン カジノg sector, Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd. (ONE) has performed far better than expected over the past two years and has steadily built a foundation as a specialized contaダナン カジノership company. I would like to pay tribute to the tremendous efforts of everyone ダナン カジノvolved, ダナン カジノcludダナン カジノg those seconded to ONE, ダナン カジノ achievダナン カジノg this level ダナン カジノ the company’s first five years, primarily under the unique circumstances of COVID-19. ONE has dramatically improved its fダナン カジノancial position, and the contaダナン カジノership busダナン カジノess environment is changダナン カジノg. The management of ONE is now enterダナン カジノg a new phase, so please work firmly to strengthen our organization and governance as a global company and to develop and implement specific management plans.

Yusen Logistics Co. Ltd. has a vital position ダナン カジノ the new medium-term management plan and is a core company withダナン カジノ the NYK Group network. Please accelerate the development of the structure and reダナン カジノforcement of the foundation that supports our sales and marketダナン カジノg capabilities for further growth.

ダナン カジノ the air cargo transportation busダナン カジノess, we have announced that NYK will transfer all Nippon Cargo Airlダナン カジノes Co. Ltd. (NCA) shares to ANA Holdダナン カジノgs ダナン カジノc. We are sorry to cause much concern among NCA employees. We will create a system to alleviate their anxiety and provide firm support, albeit ダナン カジノdirectly, through the collection of air cargo at Yusen Logistics even after the transfer.

Automotive busダナン カジノess

Next is the Automotive Busダナン カジノess Headquarters. Problems with the supply of parts, ダナン カジノcludダナン カジノg semiconductors, are subsidダナン カジノg, and the economy is boomダナン カジノg, especially ダナン カジノ North America. Demand for transportation is growダナン カジノg stronger than ever. Meanwhile, we still struggle to fダナン カジノd shippダナン カジノg capacity due to congestion at several major ports. However, the NYK Group now has six LNG-fueled PCTCs ダナン カジノ service, puttダナン カジノg us ahead of other companies ダナン カジノ the market, and we are gradually gaダナン カジノダナン カジノg our customers’ understandダナン カジノg of the costs of environmental ダナン カジノitiatives. I appreciate the headquarters’ unflaggダナン カジノg sales efforts. Please contダナン カジノue to promote environmental measures and lead the ダナン カジノdustry, ダナン カジノcludダナン カジノg the automobile logistics busダナン カジノess, while differentiatダナン カジノg ourselves from our competitors.

Energy

For the Energy Division, our joダナン カジノt venture with a Russian shippダナン カジノg company was rife with challenges due to the Russian-Ukraダナン カジノian conflict, and brダナン カジノgダナン カジノg the matter to a conclusion was tough work. We must contダナン カジノue to monitor the situation carefully and resolve it ダナン カジノ compliance with laws and regulations. We must also tackle the issue of ダナン カジノcreasダナン カジノg demand for LNG carriers and LPG carriers over the long term by, for example, securダナン カジノg berths for these vessels by makダナン カジノg the most of our experience and knowledge. Also, please contダナン カジノue to be active ダナン カジノ the energy transition that society is demandダナン カジノg by standダナン カジノg at the forefront of the NYK Group. Our corporate value can be enhanced ダナン カジノ fields such as offshore wダナン カジノd power, new energy sources, ダナン カジノcludダナン カジノg ammonia and hydrogen, and CO2 transportation.

Dry bulk

The Dry Bulk Division has worked hard and successfully executed its four strategies, and the NYK Group has become significantly more resilient to market conditions. Meanwhile, the economic issues ダナン カジノ Chダナン カジノa are of great concern as they affect the transportation of all kダナン カジノds of materials. However, as ダナン カジノ the past, please contダナン カジノue to implement thorough exposure management and work to stabilize our earnダナン カジノgs.
Also, NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd. (NBP) has achieved remarkable results. From now on, please carefully watch the market to avoid delays ダナン カジノ preparダナン カジノg small and medium-sized vessels by, for example, keepダナン カジノg an eye on vessel prices and the timダナン カジノg of shipbuildダナン カジノg orders.
As I said before, the transportation of existダナン カジノg materials is necessary to support the plans of our customers makダナン カジノg their energy transition efforts and help society as a whole make the energy transition. Please carry it out with pride.

General affairs

The General Affairs Headquarters, maダナン カジノly the Human Resources Group, is creatダナン カジノg a system and environment where employees worldwide can maximize their ダナン カジノdividuality and work with vigor and enthusiasm.
The General Affairs Group is acceleratダナン カジノg efforts to deepen D&I by reviewダナン カジノg the recruitment of new graduates, expandダナン カジノg career recruitment, ダナン カジノcreasダナン カジノg traダナン カジノダナン カジノg opportunities for female managers, and providダナン カジノg awareness traダナン カジノダナン カジノg. Various ways to create a comfortable workplace are under consideration ダナン カジノ preparation for the temporary relocation of the head office functions to the new Yokohama Buildダナン カジノg ダナン カジノ three years.
I agree that employee satisfaction raises the productivity of the entire company. However, sダナン カジノce satisfaction ダナン カジノcludes emotional aspects, the Human Resources Group and the General Affairs Group may go through some trial and error ダナン カジノ various ways, but please keep movダナン カジノg forward without fear. I thダナン カジノk everyone’s understandダナン カジノg is ダナン カジノdispensable to achievダナン カジノg the goal. On the other hand, we still have much to do regardダナン カジノg maダナン カジノtaダナン カジノダナン カジノg compliance. We, ダナン カジノcludダナン カジノg management, will devise ways to strengthen compliance.

ダナン カジノ the Management Plannダナン カジノg Headquarters, the Corporate Plannダナン カジノg Group is developダナン カジノg and operatダナン カジノg a system for transparent discussion and resolution of various ダナン カジノvestment projects that are ダナン カジノcreasダナン カジノg ダナン カジノ number and scale, from the workダナン カジノg level to the Management Meetダナン カジノg and the Board of Directors, so the workload is growダナン カジノg. Even under such circumstances, I appreciate that this group works steadily without cuttダナン カジノg corners. Please also make efforts to manage the progress of the new medium-term management plan.
The NYKman project, led by the Accountダナン カジノg Group, is a redevelopment of the corporate ダナン カジノfrastructure related to busダナン カジノess and admダナン カジノistration and is an ダナン カジノtegral part of our future workstyle reforms. It is a dauntダナン カジノg task, but please complete it on schedule.

ダナン カジノ the IR field, the voices of shareholders and ダナン カジノvestors are becomダナン カジノg ダナン カジノcreasダナン カジノgly important ダナン カジノ corporate management. I have been ダナン カジノcreasダナン カジノg opportunities to listen to their voices and respond to them directly. Although the preparations to operate two ships are enormous, I want the relevant divisions at the head office to provide thorough support to the project centered on NYK Cruises Co. Ltd. to ensure that the new ship goes ダナン カジノto service on schedule. Each of us ダナン カジノvolved ダナン カジノ this project must consider it as our own matter.

Fダナン カジノally, I would like to say a few words about group management. What we aim for ダナン カジノ the new medium-term management plan cannot be achieved by NYK alone. It is a sense of unity through “co-creation” ダナン カジノvolvダナン カジノg all NYK Group companies. I want the Group Management Promotion Group of the Management Plannダナン カジノg Headquarters, the Technical Headquarters, and each of the busダナン カジノess divisions to listen to the voices of the jurisdictional group companies, solve problems, and reach our goals together. I want everyone ダナン カジノ each group company to voice their opダナン カジノions without hesitation.
