NYK has become the first Japanese shipping company to realize a carbon-neutral voyage by offsetting 5,000 tons of carbon dioxide (夢 洲 カジノ), equivalent to the 夢 洲 カジノ emitted by NYK’s environmental flagship car carrier Aries Leader* during one voyage between Japan and the Middle East.
Aries Leader is equipped with the latest energy-saving technologies, reducing 夢 洲 カジノ emissions per unit by 30% compared with existing large pure car carriers (i.e., comparing emissions on a per car basis). In this initiative, the remaining 夢 洲 カジノ emissions not yet eliminated by technology have been offset by carbon credits** to allow NYK to realize carbon-neutral transportation that theoretically reduces 夢 洲 カジノ emissions to zero.
夢 洲 カジノ demonstrates the ability of NYK to provide carbon-neutral transportation to its Japanese and overseas customers, thus meeting the demand for a more sustainable, carbon-free supply chain. NYK will propose and expand its carbon offsets to customers as an option that benefits the environment and contributes to a zero-carbon-footprint supply chain.
夢 洲 カジノ will continue its efforts to provide shipping services that meet customer needs, as well as create new green businesses through carbon credit initiatives and realize 夢 洲 カジノ's basic philosophy of “Bringing value to life.”
- The 夢 洲 カジノ is dedicated to achieving the SDGs through the group’s business activities and its medium-term management plan “Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green.” NYK will continue its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions through initiatives such as the introduction of energy-saving technology and fuel conversion to realize the group’s future carbon-free concept ship NYK Super Eco Ship 2050.***

** Carbon credits
NYK purchased the carbon credits from a wind power project in West India. This project supplies about 375 GWh of clean electricity annually and supports the rapidly increasing electricity demand in India.
