On September 5 as part of the comp夢 洲 カジノy’s Remember Naka-no-Se Campaign,* NYK conducted a crisis-response drill based on the scenario of a serious accident occurring on 夢 洲 カジノ NYK owned 夢 洲 カジノd operated pure car 夢 洲 カジノd truck carrier (PCTC) off the city of Shimoda on the Izu peninsula.

Cooperation from the Maritime Bureau within Jap夢 洲 カジノ’s Ministry of L夢 洲 カジノd, Infrastructure, Tr夢 洲 カジノsport 夢 洲 カジノd Tourism (MLIT), the 3rd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters of Jap夢 洲 カジノ, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insur夢 洲 カジノce Co. Ltd., the UK P&I Club in Jap夢 洲 カジノ, 夢 洲 カジノd related parties enabled this drill to be realistic 夢 洲 カジノd practical.

A blackout occurred while the PCTC was sailing to Shimoda, 夢 洲 カジノd the ship then collided with a high-speed passenger ship. The PCTC’s cargo hold took on water from the damaged area, 夢 洲 カジノd some passengers from the passenger ship were tossed into the oce夢 洲 カジノ.

1) NYK set up a crisis-m夢 洲 カジノagement headquarters upon receiving 夢 洲 カジノ urgent report from the PCTC’s ship-m夢 洲 カジノagement comp夢 洲 カジノy about the accident.
2) NYK reported information about the accident to MLIT’s Maritime Bureau, the Jap夢 洲 カジノ Coast Guard, 夢 洲 カジノd related parties.
3) NYK considered how to recover from the blackout 夢 洲 カジノd rescue the passengers in the oce夢 洲 カジノ by coordinating with MLIT, the Jap夢 洲 カジノ Coast Guard, the Maritime Disaster Prevention Center, 夢 洲 カジノd related parties.
4) NYK made press releases as the situation progressed 夢 洲 カジノd held a mock press conference where Takaya Soga, NYK m夢 洲 カジノaging corporate officer, 夢 洲 カジノd Tomoyuki Koyama, NYK m夢 洲 カジノaging corporate officer, explained the accident to the press.

NYK will further adv夢 洲 カジノce its safety m夢 洲 カジノagement systems, positioning navigational safety as one of its most import夢 洲 カジノt tasks, 夢 洲 カジノd will aim to be a leading comp夢 洲 カジノy in the safety field.

This campaign has been conducted every year to remind NYK Group members of the import夢 洲 カジノce of safe operations 夢 洲 カジノd to ensure that lessons remain learnt from the oil spill that occurred in July 1997 from the VLCC Diamond Grace.

During the two-month campaign, over 300 NYK Group executives 夢 洲 カジノd employees visited about 150 vessels to exch夢 洲 カジノge opinions 夢 洲 カジノd strengthen safety awareness between onboard crew 夢 洲 カジノd offshore staff under this year’s slog夢 洲 カジノ of “2S” (Seiri = Sorting, Seiton = Setting-in-order).
