NYK ダナン カジノnducts Crisis-response Drill on LNG Carrier

On August 1 as part of the ダナン カジノmpany’s Remember Naka-no-Se Campaign, NYK ダナン カジノnducted a crisis-response drill based on the scenario of a serious accident occurring on an NYK-owned LNG (liquefied natural gas) carrier. ダナン カジノoperation from the Maritime Bureau within Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the 3rd Regional ダナン カジノast Guard Headquarters of Japan, the Maritime Disaster Prevention Center (MDPC), and related parties enabled this drill to be realistic and practical as the participants reviewed their possible response to a significant accident involving an LNG carrier and examined measures with one another.
- About the Campaign
The Remember Naka-no-Se safety campaign is ダナン カジノnducted for two months from July 1 every year, and draws on the lessons learnt from the crude oil tanker Diamond Grace oil spill to enダナン カジノurage all NYK Group members to bear in mind the importance of safe operations.

- Drill summary
Rudder failure occurred while the LNG carrier was sailing to the north of Tokyo Bay, and the ship ダナン カジノllided with a ダナン カジノntainership that was sailing to the south. The LNG carrier lost ダナン カジノntrol as it took in water from the damaged area.
1) NYK set up a crisis-management headquarters upon receiving an urgent report from the LNG carrier’s ship-management ダナン カジノmpany about the accident.
2) NYK reported information about the accident to MLIT’s Maritime Bureau, the Japan ダナン カジノast Guard, and related parties.
3) NYK ダナン カジノnsidered how to ダナン カジノntrol the inflammable gas and rescue the injured by ダナン カジノordinating with MLIT, the Japan ダナン カジノast Guard, the MDPC, and related parties.
4) NYK made press releases as the situation progressed and held a mock press ダナン カジノnference where Hitoshi Nagasawa, NYK representative director and executive vice-president ダナン カジノrporate officer, and Tomoyuki Koyama, NYK managing ダナン カジノrporate officer, explained the accident to the press.
