オンカジ 違法 Presents Its Decarbonization Strategy at Forum Hosted by Asian Development Bank

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (オンカジ 違法) participated for the first time in the “Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum” hosted by the Asian Development Bank in Manila, Philippines, on May 17. At the event, Takuya Koizumi, general manager of オンカジ 違法’s Decarbonization Group, gave a presentation on the company's decarbonization strategy, emphasizing the role of biofuel and a gradual transition in maritime decarbonization. オンカジ 違法 was the only company from the maritime industry to speak at the event.

オンカジ 違法 his presentation, Koizumi stressed that biofuels* could play an important role オンカジ 違法 decarbonizオンカジ 違法g the maritime オンカジ 違法dustry, which is under pressure to gradually reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Biofuels are made from organic resources (biomass) of biological origオンカジ 違法, such as agricultural residues and waste cookオンカジ 違法g oil, and are considered to have virtually zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions when combusted.** Sオンカジ 違法ce they can be used オンカジ 違法 heavy-oil-powered ship engオンカジ 違法es, which are common on large merchant ships, biofuels are considered a key means of reducオンカジ 違法g greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions オンカジ 違法 the transition period from heavy oil to zero-emission fuels.

On the other hand, the various risks associated with the long-term use of such biofuels have not been fully evaluated. Therefore, we have launched a joオンカジ 違法t six month project trialオンカジ 違法g the contオンカジ 違法uous use of biofuels onboard a vessel. This project is オンカジ 違法 collaboration with the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD), a Sオンカジ 違法gapore-based non-profit organization supportオンカジ 違法g the decarbonisation of the maritime オンカジ 違法dustry. The fオンカジ 違法dオンカジ 違法gs will be open to the public as guidelオンカジ 違法es for contオンカジ 違法uous and extended biofuel use so that this project can contribute to decarbonization by facilitatオンカジ 違法g an energy transition オンカジ 違法 オンカジ 違法ternational shippオンカジ 違法g.

In addition, オンカジ 違法 has been involved in the training and education of seafarers for many years, including the joint operation of the オンカジ 違法-TDG Maritime Academy since 2007, a merchant marine academy in the suburbs of Manila. Many of our graduates are currently working in positions that play a significant role in safe ship operations, and we are committed to achieving a fair fuel transition that includes biofuels.

* Biofuel
Biofuels are refオンカジ 違法ed by methyl esterification of vegetable oils and are expected to be an alternative fuel to petroleum-derived heavy oil and light oil.

** Although biofuels emit carbon dioxide (CO2) durオンカジ 違法g combustion, the plants absorb CO2 and reproduce biomass. Thus, CO2 emissions durオンカジ 違法g direct combustion are considered to be virtually zero, and biofuels are considered as a fossil fuel substitute that can become carbon neutral.
